I've gone back the the Ride Sided Swing.

I am trying to figure out why I can’t consistently hit pitch shots with my 56°. For a while I was very consistent with it, but lately it’s hit or miss.

Our old codger group plays every day. Loss of distance due to aging bodies means we must rely on our short game to score halfway decently. Most all of us use lower lofted clubs to chip. The high lofted wedges,, 56 and more, can be difficult to maintain consistency shot after shot after shot. One of our best short game players uses a 6 or 7 irons to chip with. I seldom touch my sand wedge and don't even carry a lob wedge. Holed out 2 chips yesterday...one with an 8 iron and one with a 9. Don't know if it will help or not, but just relaying our group's experiences.

Working on keeping a better tempo with my driver. Irons are great because it’s a finite distance. I made a swing change with my driver that gave me more distance. Trouble is keeping the tempo and letting the change produce the speed and distance.

I’ve been getting quick and it goes left. I throttle it back and it’s a high long draw.

Over this past year, I've lost distance on everything. Old age ain't for sissies!! Working hard on moving the old body through the ball, a little slower backswing so I can accomplish that. For the most part, though, it's just learning to deal with a 77, almost 78, year old body isn't going to hit many 300 yard drives. :>)

Just getting back in the game. First range trip will tell me what to work on.

Well since I haven’t played since my last post in this thread, and I have to play in a scramble in a few days…. I’d have to say ā€œnot embarrassing myselfā€and trying to have a good time

Keeping a narrower but balanced stance, getting my hands set at the proper angle and steady through my entire swing. Mentally staying focused with each swing and finishing with a good, strong tempo without over swinging. Not asking too much, am I šŸ˜ƒšŸ˜ƒšŸŒšŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļøā›³ļø

I've had difficulty this entire season with a couple fundamentals. The left side/leg is weak so I end up not getting thru the ball. And, the old head simply won't stay down. Days when the mental side is halfway sharp, I do okay. When the voices in my head are laughing so hard at how I'm playing, it doesn't get any better thru the round. Honestly, though, the past couple weeks has been much better than the first part of the season.

Less knee bend at setup, along with a straighter back. Allowing my left heel to come up in my back swing and concentrating on a smooth tempo/timing. I am striking the ball much better since I've slowed down the swing and gotten the wrists to release properly. As my confidence builds, I'll bring up the speed, albeit slowly!

I'm working on helping my 12 year old son play better.

He has a interesting set of issues.

    1. Really nice flight and slight draw to his irons when he hits them solid. He does on the range, does not on the course.
    2. Bad slice with the driver, this happens on the range AND the course. At the moment we're just playing the slice and hitting irons off the tee when it doesn't fit the hole.
    3. Chipping is probably his best attribute at the moment, does really well getting it close from 1-20 feet off the green.
    4. He's terrible at putting. Can't read greens very well, distance control is sketchy. Stroke is herkie jerky.
    5. He has a horrible habit of lining himself up good at first, but as he settles in to his stance he slowly works his way to aiming way right of his target.

The best part is his attitude. He does get upset when he hits bad shots or several bad shots in a row, but he's generally not letting that get in the way of hitting the next shot. Even on hole 9 of a round without much in the way of 'good' shots he's joking around and having a good time.

At the moment we're only working on good contact. IMO good repeatable contact is first, then we can work on swing flaws. Right now he's dribbling it 20 feet most of the time. Topping it, hitting fat, you know...the usual.

Quality time spent with the boy on the course though. You just can't beat it.

Filed for divorce today. Thought she was a keeper, but Paradym cheated on me just too many times. Loved the way she looked, especially when her cover was removed. Bulges in the right places. Sleek. Yet, she just did not meet my needs.

The mistress I've gone to when Paradym has been on one of her tirades is an old Callaway Mini 1.5. In fact, I have 2 of them. When a 79 year old guy is legally bound to one and has two on the side, it can be quite exhausting!! Stuck one of my driver shafts in Mimi...that's what I call her... a couple days ago. Her standard loft is 14 degrees. Have her set on standard/draw. She is satisfying my tee shots by sending the ball down the fairway about 4 or 5 yards further than the old Paradym hag! Her metallic voice melts my heart where the old hag's voice is just a dull thud!

The past 2 days, Mimi has shown off for the old codgers in my golf group. She's rolled through the morning dew is such a sexy way, it is a site that makes old men shudder with their long gone memories of passion. Once the papers are signed and the prenup adjudicated, Paradym will be sent packing. As the winter snow falls and the playground is closed, perhaps I will try to find another tall and lank lady to fill the biggest compartment in my golf bag.

On a whim this year I went back to the three wedge setup (4 including my PW.) So I’ve been working hard on dialling in yardages using the Pelz 3x4 wedge technique. Frustrating at times for sure, and I’ve contemplated dropping back to my old setup many times. I think the main issue is I don’t get out playing enough. So I’m going to work harder on that now too!! Golf really is an addiction for me.

Frustrating and down right confusing at the same time. This idea is getting very close to being put back on the shelf. I’ve been playing some of my worst golf, this last half of the Canadian golf season. And I think it’s directly related to this failing experiment. Found my short game so much simpler and better when I just played PW, 54, 60… there were no questions, I knew the club I was hitting almost immediately. Now with the four wedges I’m always arguing with myself; I could do this with the 52 or that with the 56. Let me tell you the results are never good!! I might ride this out until the snow flies, but the signature is getting very close to being updated, that’s for sure!
