Best round ever yesterday!

Started on the back cause of a scramble going on, so all my first tee mental prep done on the ride over wasted. par five, good drive, chunked the second, just off in three and a decent chip leaves 6' to save par. missed the putt and go bogey.

Then the toughest hole on the back, a long par 4 and ai am a shorter hitter. good drive, great second to just off, up and down for par!

then par, par, par, par, par, par, finish the nine in one over. missed a few bird putts, two holes had to really play and work to make par.
the second nine started par, then took a bogey, couple more pars and then the first double of the day. started to struggle but keep it to bogey at worst and a few pars too to finish with a 41 for a total of 77 (par 71).

was a good feeling, tho I admit to having to forget about the score and keep in the moment. played with good friends that were pulling for me and giving me confidence, thats a big help.

a great day all in all, two bad drives (both pop ups from getting too under the ball), one bad iron, and the putts were solid, the birdies just didnt fall.

was nice to have good solid ball striking, a couple of the bogeys being from hitting the ball better than usual and going a little over.

hey there doc.

the short game is decent, but has been better. felt like that 77 could have been a few lower if some putts would have fallen, but also was happy that the lag was usually close enough for a tap in. I see you are playing some pretty competitive golf these days. find the mindset and "pressure" a challenge?

I love it, except when I'm playing really badly. When I'm hitting them OK, all I want to do is practice, play a practice round, and then play a tournament round. The only casual rounds I play are when I can get the GF to go, as I'm teaching her to play.

I think I'm addicted to tournaments.

Today we were slow at work, so I sneaked out early and drove over to the course we will play in our next tournament in 10 days. Greens had just been aerated 2 days ago. They will still suck in 10 days and that will be terrible for the tourney.

Anyway, there is something to be said for this fairways and greens stuff:
Fairways 12/14
Greens 11/18
Putts 33, with 2 3putts
1 birdie, 4 bogeys, 1 double
39 + 38 = 77, my lowest score of this year, on a 6347 yard, 70.3/130 course that I've never played before.

Of course, in the tournament, I probably won't be able to hit a single fairway or green, and may not break a hundred.

Nice frickin score on what reads like a relatively tough course.

Thank you. It was mostly luck.

I really don't know how that course got that rating, other than a boatload of waste areas, bunkers, and the smallest greens I have ever seen. Honestly, my bed looks bigger than some of them.

Anybody know if Arthur Hills is famous for small greens?

Water finally drained from my home course, last week there was literally 3'+ on the front 9. What's weird is you would think with all the water they had the fairways would be mush but they are all brown & hard as a rock.

Anyhoo, shot 43 on the front & 41 on the back, par is 70. Looked at my last 2 full rds there & they are all exactly the same, 43 & 41 so I think I have a handle on what my average is on this course.

shot a 64 on a 9, could've easily been a 59 or lower if I could chip AT ALL! both times i found myself in the bunker I escaped no problem. I was putting amazing all day, I had 17 total putts. 2 holes in a row were 1 putts (1 from over 10 feet away, the other from within if I remember right) and then the hole following nearly sank a 25 footer, left it short about a foot with a pretty nice break, played it perfect just a little short. had a great time though and I'm better everytime out =]

On Saturday, a guy in our fouresome made his first hole in one and I shot a 79 on 71.2/134 course. Then today, on the same course, I shot an 87 but got my first Eagle ever.

Go figure...

lol complicated round today. Not factoring in the fact that it was a Sunday round (2 day event). I shot a 82 in short terms. I ACED the par 3 3rd hole and was -1 after 6 holes. The wheels ended up falling off but I still came in 2nd in my flight and had 1 of the 2 skins in the flight. Kinda weird, my last hole in one was 6/26/04 when I was 13

38. I am going through this phase where I am playing and scoring decently, but just playing SLOPPY. Or at least that's how it feels. A few weeks ago, I was hitting basically no good shots. Short game improves, scores start to come down. Then long game starts to click, scores come down a little more. The upshot is that I'm still extremely inconsistent. There's a very wide dispersion of shot quality that gets infuriating. I go from stiffing it to a 30-yard banana slice off the tee two holes later, only to find it sitting up in a perfect spot from which I can make a relatively easy par. (Lucky things seem to happen more often the more you play.) Putting stroke is variable and not repeating. I don't get mad on the course when I play really bad--just when there's a lot of variance. If I'm bogeying every hole because of bad shots, then whatever.

Went through the same kind of thing last summer though--it will pass. Hopefully.
